!Elijah's birth date is listed in the Bible belonging to his parents. His granddaughter Sarah, stated on 21 March 1929: "Brother Moses said that Elijah Walters, our grandfather, was Dutch & Grandma Walters was Irish and her maiden name was Easter Holliman came from Newburn [New Bern] NC. My grandfather came from Darlington Co, SC. I don't know my great-grandmother's maiden name and don't know where they were married. They too, might have been married at Darlington, SC." Elijah and Easter moved to the southern part of of Union Co, NC near the Chesterfield Co, SC line about 1822. That part of Union Co, NC is known as the Buford Section. There is an old Walters Cemetery in this section on the Landsford Road. The earliest burial date recorded in the cemetery is on the tombstone of Elijah.
