    12. Elihu3 Babcock, son of John and Mary (Lawton) Babcock (James 1st), b. about 1675. Tradition says his birth occurred at the time of the "Swamp fight", Dec. 19, 1675, King Philip's War.

He was of limited mental capacity, which misfortune tradition also predicates upon the personal alarms his mother, Mary, suffered from an accidental meeting with a hostile Indian the summer preceding his birth...

The date of his death is not known, but he was living when about seventy years of age.

Forty years after the death of his father, his six surviving brothers, who always treated him with kindness and respect, entered into an agreement providing for his care and support.
