Elias Converse was born in Thompson, Connecticut in 1767, the son of Capt. Pain and Mary (Lee) Convers. He, and his twin brother, Hamblin, was baptized on 4 June 1769, inThompson, Connecticut. Elias removed, with his parents and siblings, to Bridport, Addison County, Vermont, about 1790.
