_MIDN: S. [edit] BiographyCapt. Elias S Cady, ( Elijah 4, Williams, Capt. Joseph 2 , Nicholas 1 ) b. Plainfield, Conn., March 21, 1743; m. Hannah Hutchins, b. 1746, dau. of Silas and Sarah (Parkhurst) Hutchins. She d. Cornish, N. H., March 4, 1826; he d. there Feb. 26, 1826. They went from Connecticut to Cornish on horseback. He cut a willow stick on the way to urge his horse, and stuck it in the ground by his future home, where it remains as a tree to the present time. He was a soldier of the Revolution, and served in Col. Jonathan Chase's Regt. ; became a Captain in military service, which title he bore ever after. He was a Selectman of the town in 1772, '73, '74, '78, and '82, besides holding other offices. Children, b. Cornish, N. H. :
===Probate===Elias Cady did not leave a will and the estate was administered by Curtis Cady. Total estate value was $601.08 with $420.00 remaining after payment of debts and expenses. The remainder was distributed among the legal heirs: Lucy Ellis wife of Barnabas Ellis, Silas Cady, Curtis Cady, Hannah Sprague wife of John Sprague, Sally Chadburn wife of Benjamin Chadburn, and the children of Gratia Burk late wife of Jonathan Burk.[1] [edit] Sources
