My mother was from Minnesota, but living with an aunt and uncle in California (to escape the farm in Minnesota!). She met my Dad at a roller skating rink one afternoon, they were married six weeks later. He shipped her to NY to live in his hometown until he got back from duty. My grandmother (Dorothy) was less than thrilled that my Dad had met and married my Mom, she apparently had a hometown girl all picked out for him to marry. He'd not followed the game plan! There were other issues too, I suppose, but my Mom and Dorothy were never particularly close, as a result I know almost nothing about her or her siblings or the Durgee family. What a loss. --- e-mail from [edit] ===================================================Syracuse Post-Standard, 5 Jan 1998: ELDORA C. CAUFIELD WALKER Eldora C.
