HAMILTON CHAPEL, TEXAS. Hamilton Chapel, also called Hamilton, was on Farm Road 2116 three miles southwest of Rockdale in southern Milam County. It became a voting precinct in 1886 and was named for J. Hamilton, who gave land for a school. No evidence of the Hamilton Chapel community was shown on the 1988 county highway map. Services held at Phillips & Luckey Chapel, Rockdale. Burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery at Rockdale. Rev. George Doss officiated. He was BORN 2/3/1881 and a native of Alabama. He had lived most of his life in Texas. SURVIVORS: Mrs. Avy Jackson of Rockdale; 3 daughters, Mrs. Euphia Caywood of Rockdale, Mrs Pauline Williams and Mrs. Evonell McMillan, both of Houston; 2 sons, Obie Jackson and Lester Jackson, both of Rockdale; 3 sisters, Mrs. John Berry and Mrs. Frank Williams, both of Thorndale, Mrs. Ollie Coupland of Rockdale; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; number of nieces and nephews.
