In Cuyler Reynold's "Genealogical and Family History of Southern New Yorkand the Hudson River Valley", Volume 2 - Lewis Historical PublishingCompany, NY, 1913, page 554, a genealogical record gives Edy Newbury and Ruth Burt as the parents of Joel Newbury. Also that he resided in Road District #5, Warwick, Orange County, NY in 1775 and was assessed fortaxes. Joel was born in Warwick.
Edy, supposed to have been son of Benjamin (3) Newbury, was among the original settlers of Orange county, New York. In 1775 he resided in Road District No. 5, in Warwick, and was assessed for taxes two pounds, seventeen shillings. He married Ruth Burt, born July 3, 1747, in Bellvale, daughter of Daniel Burt, who was a prominent citizen of Orange County and representative in congress.
