"Edwin R. ``bud Wardwell, 81, of Fellowship Manor in Groton, died Wednesday, (August 30, 2006). Bud was born in Hartford, and had been a longtime resident of Enfield, then later moved to Mystic. He was the son of Marion and Edwin Wardwell of East Hartford, and was married to the late Helen Tokarz Wardwell who passed away in March 2003. Mr. Wardwell graduated from East Hartford High School before proudly serving in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1943-1946. For many years Bud worked at Woodland Auto Body in East Hartford, before becoming the co-owner of Circle Motors of Groton. Dad leaves behind daughter Leslie and husband Bob Fleury of No. Stonington; daughter, Eileen and husband Robert Wilson of Niantic; son, Edwin and wife, Ellen Rossi Wardwell of Suffield; and son, Bruce and wife, Daryl Schulze Wardwell of Wethersfield. Bud also leaves 11 grandchildren and a great grandchild. Among his fondest memories are the days cruising on his boat with his wife Helen, gardening at his Mystic home, spending time with friends, and walks at Haley's Farm with his beloved dogs. He will forever be respected for his long, hard fought battle with Parkinson's Disease. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to: Fellowship Manor, Lestertown Rd., Groton, CT 06340. There will be a calling hour Saturday morning from 11:30-12:30 at the Thomas L. Nielan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic. The funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery.
