MILITARY: News Article. Probably a Concordia paper, undated: "Cpl Edwin Taylor, with a field artillery unit, and Pvt Fred Taylor, paratrooper, brothers serving in England, enjoyed a surprise get-together when they met while both were on short furloughs there recently. The brothers hadn't seen each other since a year ago Christmas. They are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Taylor of Concordia."

LETTER FROM CZECHOSLOVAKIA (apparently just before he came home from Europe in WWII. I believe the war was over by May 24.)

"May 24, 1945 Czechoslovakia

Dear Lois and Stub:

How is everything going with you? Fine, I hope.

We haven't been doing a lot lately. It's been rainy and cold the last few days and I don't think much of that kind of weather while we're living in pup tents. It's bad enough when your in buildings. We got a keg of beer today but it's too cold to drink it. The beer over here is a lot like water anyway.

Is there anything new going on around town? Is it any different since the curfew lifted or does anything stay open that late? Maybe the town will have come to life before I get there because I aim to have a good party or two.

Well, that's about all for now, so I'll close.

Love,

Ed"

Editor's Notes: Lois and Stub are Raymond and Lois (Taylor) Drury, Ed's older sister and brother-in-law. the "town" referred to is Concordia, Cloud Co, Kansas.
