The census taker either mistakenly showed all children as belonging to Edwin, or this blended family was confusing. The Washington Birth Index shows Clara and Edwin belonging to Edwin and Katherine, William and Charles as belonging to Charles Bickham. But since Charles' wife Katherine died before 1920, and he was a physician, Charles obviously needed his brother and sister-in-law's help.
