Edwin Fleet was born in late 1845 and baptised on 10th July 1846 at Husborne Crawley in Bedfordshire, son of a lace maker named Ann Fleet, formerly Cook, and her husband William Fleet, an agricultural labourer. Sadly Edwin died when he was nearly two years old, being buried at Husborne Crawley on 3rd December 1847.
