Disputed Lineage

In Whitman's first volume, he says that Thomas and Alice had at least 2 sons, and in his second volume, he names the second as Edward. That an Edward Westcote existed seems to be certain, based on the deed he witnessed in 1550/1[1]. However, Thomas Westcote (fl. 1624-1636) in A view of Devonshire in MDCXXX [1630] gives Thomas and Alice only one son, Philip.

'Edward Wescote flourished in 1541 to 1551. Was his wife Damaris Stuckley, dau. Christopher and Mary?'

While the author speculates (in a couple of places) that Edward may have married Damaris Stucley, daughter of Christopher, the deeds involving Edward and Christopher imply that Edward was Christopher's contemporary (if not older).
