    Will of "Edward Ward of orange", dated 22 Feb 1808, proved 21 Jan 1818, names wife Dorathy Ward; eldest son Amos Ward; sons and daughters of my son Amos Ward; second son Nathan Ward; other son Jonas Ward; other son Royal Ward; youngest son Edward Ward; Calvin Mayo and Sally his wife; Dolly Ward; Suzy Ward. Nathan Ward to be executor.
    21 Jan 1818: Widow Dorothy Ward waives provision for her in will and requests her dower as if no will. 25 Mar 1818: Dower set off. 17 Jun 1818: Redone. Appealed by Calvin Mayo 3 Oct 1818 as most of the dower assigned was land given to him by the will, not cited to hear report which clearly adverse to his interests, and will charged him with payment of $600 legacies based on receiving full amount of land.
    25 Mar 1818: Inventory of Edward Ward, late of Orange: $2434.83, by Moses Smith, Moses Johnson, Zina Goodell.
    5 May 1818: Widow allowed her apparel and $100.
    27 Oct 1818: Agreement between Calvin Mayo & Sally Mayo of Orange and the other heirs of Edward Ward of Orange deceased that widow Dorathy Ward's thirds are agreeable and a sum of $400 to remain in the hands of Calvin & Sally Mayo [until widow's decease when thirds will revert] as compensation. Signed by Calvin Mayo, Sally Mayo, Oliver Ward, Nathan Ward, Royal Ward, Edward Ward, James Stratton, Jonas Ward.
