Will of Edward Smith
- Pages 232-34. Will of Edward Smith of Orange County in St. Thomas Parish in Virginia being indisposed through age and other infirmities, dated 17 Sept. 1755.
- Unto my son John Smith and my daughter Isabel Smith 200 acres lying in St. Thomas Parish in the fork of Permunkey adjoining to the land of John Henderson purchased of William Brockman to be equally divided, by daughter having her first choice.
- If my son John Smith shall lay any claim or right or title to 100 acres which I sold to William Ceaton lying in the fork of Marrowcoca Creek left by Roger Bell to his dafter Mary Smith the wife of Edward Smith and recover the aforesaid son John Smith in Orange County shall be set up to the highest bidder to pay a bond which I gave to William Ceaton for the performance of the aforesaid land, my son Ambrose Smith haveing the revarson of money more than complyed with the aforesaid bond.
- Unto my dafter Elizabeth Atkins the wife of James Atkins 100 acres that I purchased of Daniel Cook adjoyning to the land of Samuel Brockman.
- Unto my son Ambrose Smith 150 acres which I purchased of Thomas Cook lying in the south side of the North Hannah River in the fork of Pernumkey adjoyning to the land of Roger Bell.
- Unto my son Ambrose Smith and my dafter Isbell Smith all my goods that I had from my brother John Smith estate in Pertomack, my son Ambrose Smith having the cooper and carpenter's tools and the rest of the goods to be ecolly divided.
- The rest of my personable estate unto my loving wife Mary Smith during hur widdowhood and she enjoy the same without any molestation. If my loving wife shall be disposed to marry then divided amonxt my aforenamed children, my loving wife having her ecol part.
- My loving wife Mary Smith and my son Ambrose Smith and in the case of his decease the next heir in law exectors.

Edward Smith, Marriner have in my room do nominate and appoint my trusty friend William Eilbeck to be my lawfull attorney to receive .. all manner of Debts dues and demands due to me in the above County or elsewhere in Virginia .. and furthermore I do appoint to demand sue for .. all manner of debts .. &. Tobacco due to the said Capt. Smith & likewise to pay of ballance dues to any person .. do acknowledge whatsoever William Eilbeck do in my behalf ., In Testimony hereof fourth day of July 1726.
