My Biggest Mystery

Edward H. Peck, my great-grandfather, apparently moved to Cleveland OH after the 1880 census but before 1883 when he appears in the city directory, working at the same place where he worked for many years afterwards. According to his later census statements, he and both his parents were born in New Jersey. That is the only information I have found that might lead back to his birth family.

I have his probate information, land records, naturalizations he witnessed, and a lot of miscellaneous information on his time in Cleveland, and the families he interacted with there. But there are no indications of any of his previous family ties.

In searching the 1860 NJ census, there is one Edward H. of roughly the right age, but that person had a long life in New Jersey. Of all the Eds, Eddies, Es, etc, there are too many to even try to explore.

This man's upline may remain a mystery.
