Notes

There are two marriage records in Montgomery County, Virginia [Source: A Brief of Wills and Marriages of Montgomery and Fincastle Counties, Virginia, 1733-1831 by Anne Lowry Worrell, pg. 30], that suggest that "Edward Napier" may also have been known as or perhaps "Donald Edward {Edmund?) Napier". These records are less than three weeks apart, and both appear as a marriage to Rachel Ely, as follows:

Nappier, Edward and Rachel Ely. Milliton Atkinson, surety - Dec. 28, 1786.
Nappier, Donald and Rachel Gly [sic]. Mar. register - Jan. 15, 1787.

It appears likely that the first record may be a Marriage Bond, and the second record a Marriage record, both for the same bride and groom. It should be noted that the preponderance of records refer to him as "Edmund" Napper or Napier.
