Method used to narrow down Edward's residence after his 1816 immigration to Pennsylvania: William T. Mullen's death certificate lists his mother as Anna Tinsley. The only Tinsleys who were living in Pennsylvania between 1816 and William's 1819 birth were located in Philadelphia and Chester Counties. The 1820 U.S. Census shows a Mullen family group (headed by Edward Mullen) living in Tredyffrin Twp., Chester County, and other county records in the years immediately after are consistent with this.
