Edward Gray was baptised on 11th February 1739 at Heckington in Lincolnshire, son of Mary Gray, formerly Whitehead, and her husband John Gray, a shoemaker, labourer and farmer.

Edward was married at Heckington on 28th January 1763 to Ann Burton. The following year they had a son called John baptised there. John's baptism record describes Edward as a labourer. No evidence has been found to suggest that they had any other children.

Edward's mother died in 1788 and his father died in 1790.

Edward was buried at Heckington on 30th June 1801, aged 62. He left a will, which has yet to be researched. Ann survived him but just under two years.
