Edwards Daughter-In-Law Sylvia described Edward as an even tempered man who was soft spoken. After leaving Ohio Edwards family moved from Missouri where he was born and landed in Kansas for a while and then moved to New Mexico for one winter. During the Spanish American War Edward and some other men rounded up wild horses for the Army in and area called Horse Heaven located somewhere in eastern Oregon. He then went to Austin County in eastern Washington State. Edward for a while lived in Humbolt, County in northern California in the Redwood trees where he and his brother Levi logged for a while. His sister Dora was living there. There used to be pictures of the huge stumps and the axes and saws used to fell the trees. Edward also lived in Clark County, Washington near the town of La Center which is located in southwest Washington. . Edward moved to Potlatch, Idaho in 1907 and lived there until his wife died on the 14th of July in 1910 from being administered the wrong medication from a doctor. In 1910 Edward was living on a 360 acre homestead in Mussel shell county, Montana around 17 miles from the town of Roundup. Of the 360 acres only 80 of it was plowable. The first year on the homestead he lived with a family in their log cabin and the second year he and his children lived in a tent on the homestead. Then a cabin 14 feet by 16 or 20 feet was built. In 1916 he sold the homestead to a Mr Joe Nose and moved to Battle Ground, Washington. In 1927 Edward and his family moved from Battle Ground, Washington to Kelso, Cowlitz County, Washington where he began working for Long Bell and then later Weyerhauser. His son Lloyd said that Edward always dressed in a shirt and a tie in his latter years and would wear a shirt and tie even on the weekends. There are few pictures of him without him wearing tie on.
