Emigrated to Australia with his brother Henry James on the" Eagle" in May 1853. They settled at Schnapper Point, Mornington, Victoria, where he married Charlotte Waller. Edmund remarried after the death of Charlotte. Died aged 50 at Cowes on Philip Island, Victoria and is buried in the cemetery there.
