Edmund lived in Northfield, Massachusetts. He married Silence Brooks of Deerfield, Massachusetts. They has seven children - John born December 4, 1720; Edmund born October 29, 1722, died May 6, 1723; a third son was also named Edmund after his father, he was born April 21, 1724; beriah born May 11, 1725; Silence born January 26, 1727; Parker born march 15, 1730 and Robert III born January 19, 1732.

It was their eldest son John who according to records found in a library at Chesterfield, N. Hampshire that has the honor of being one of the signers of their State's Declaration of Independence signed April 12, 1776. Just a few months prior to the historical and offical Declaration of Independence signed July 4, 1776.
