    "EDMUND, Gloucester 1650, was town clk. 1656-65, by w. Agnes had Abigail; John; and Joseph, b. 16 Nov. 1650; and d. 26 Feb. 1667. His wid. m. 15 June 1668, Thomas Penny. Abigail m. William Sargent, and d. 8 Mar. 1711, aged 79. EDWARD,[1] Haverhill 1646, perhaps m. a d. of Walter Tibbets of Gloucester, wh. calls him s.-in-law, names John and Joseph, prob. s. was a carpenter, and may have been in 1652 of Kennebunk, made freem. of Mass. 1653, and prob. in 1663 rem. to New Hampsh. But the true bapt. name, as by Hist. Coll. of Essex Inst. I. 9, is prov. was Edmund, the same person as the preced."

    EDMUND CLARK. - In the record of land-grants, a Mr. Clark is mentioned a few times before 1650, but only by the title of "Mr."; which, in accordance with the custom of that period, implied some distinction on the part of the possessor. He is probably the same individual who appears with the baptismal name of Edmund in 1650 ; and perhaps the same Edmund Clark who was of Lynn in 1636, and afterwards of Sandwich. The name also appears in Haverhill in 1654. Our Edmund Clark was town-clerk from 1657 to November, 1665 ; when his last record, in a failing hand, was made. He died Feb. 26, 1666 ; leaving a widow Agnes, who married Thomas Penny ; ...
