He said he expected to be sent to Rhoads General Hospital in Utica and might be allowed to visit home soon. He had been reported missing for several months in Germany, then as a prisoner of war, and finally as a released prisoner under hospitalization. Oswego Palladium, 19 May 1945: Pfc. Edgar Gay, wounded and captured in Jan. in Germany, is home on 30-day sick leave to visit his mother, Mrs. James Wafful, Pulaski. He suffered a deep scalp wound and skull fracture, but is recovering. He was a native of Altmar and lived in the Canastota area for several years. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Charles Miller American Legion Post of Canastota. He was a member of the Bridgeport Civil Defense, the Bridgeport Boy Scout Committee, and the Lake Oneida Beach Association. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ruth Griffin Gay; and three sons, Paul, Jerald and David Gay, all at home. Services will be... Tuesday at the E.F. Schepp & Son Funeral Home, Canastota, with the Rev.
