Was born in Rhode Island, "had his education among those people called Baptists."S1 Was converted to the Friends and became a minister, according to "Piety Promoted."

Gave a deed for land for a Friend's meeting house in Jamestown and a deed for land and building for Meetinghouse in South Kingtown, R.I.

The Friends' record of deaths reads: "Ebenezer Slocumb of Jamestown in ye Colony of Rhoad Island aged 65 Yeares & neare a month being of good Reputation & Sarvis in Church of Christ he departed theare at his own house ye 13th day of ye second month about ye 11th hour in ye night in ye Yeare 1715 and was bureyed in friends Bureying Ground in Jamestown." In an entry by another hand is written, "He was a valuable minister."S1p.46

Public activity

Presided at the general election of officers in Jamestown, 21 Apr 1682, was often chosen to the offices of "Counsellman" and Head Warden, and to the chair as Moderator of Jamestown town meetings. He was one of the early proprietors of East Greenwich, Rhode Island.

In 1707, was granted the privilege to keep a ferry on the west side of Canonicutt Island for two years. (Rhode Island Colonial Records, vol iv).S1
