Josiah Root, son of John, grandson of John, b. Aug. 2,, 1724, in Southington (now Plainville, Ct.; m. June 23, 1746, Keziah, oldest child of Deacon James and Ruth (Judd) Smith, of Southington, b. April 23 or May 8, 1728. He lived at Southington, and d. Oct. 1, 172, ae. 28. His wid. m. (2) Oct. 19, 1757, Ebenezer Hawley of Farmington, as his second wife. E.H. d. March 3, 1769, ae. 55. She d. Jan. 2, 1802, ae. 78.
