Obituary for Earl Thompson

Friends were saddened to learn of the death of Earl Thompson the 17 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Thompson of 214 North avenue, which occurred about two o'clock this morning at the city hospital, the cause of death being typhoid fever. The deceased had been ill for the past three weeks and was removed to the hospital about twelve days ago.
He was born at Smith's Run, Pa., and was seventeen years old the 22nd of last October [1912]. Until the time of his illness he was in the express business and was a young man of good qualities. He is survived by his parents and the following brothers and sisters: Burr, Harry, Roy, Mrs. Pearl Lucker and Jessie Thompson. Melvin, Cecil, Winfield, Ashley, Ross and Mrs. Edith Lynn [Linnie] Richards [Rickard] are half brothers and sister of the deceased. The funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and will be in charge of Rev. John Pringle of the U.B. church.

The funeral services of Earl Thompson were held this afternoon at 1:30 at the home of the brother of the deceased, 214 North avenue and were in charge of Rev. John Pringle of the United Brethren church. Singers from the U.B. Church furnished the music and four boy friends of the deceased acted as pall bearers. Burial took place at Oakwood [Cemetery].
