    PFC U.S. ARMY WWII

    Earl S. "Tony" Kern, 72, formerly of 20 North St., Slatington, died Wednesday in Butler Valley Manor Nursing Home, Drums, Luzerne County. He was the husband of the late Marion M. (Kuntz) Kern. He was a furnace fireman for the New Jersey Zinc Co., Palmerton, for 38 years before retiring in 1972. Born in Rextown, he was a son of the late Albert D. and Sally N. (Rex) Kern. Surviving are nieces and nephews, including Wayne Michaels, with whom he formerly resided. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the George M. Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. 2nd St., Slatington. Calling hours will be 7-8:30 p.m. Friday.
