    E. B. MERWIN came to Lancaster in 1804 from Vermont. He was an attorney of prominence and represented Fairfield County in the Legislature.

    He married a Miss Reed, a sister of Mrs. Judge Scofield. In 1815 he moved to Zanesville, Ohio.
