Syracuse Post-Standard, January 21, 1998 : DWAIN G. FRANCIS Dwain G. Francis, 57, of Old Salt Road died Monday at Cortland Memorial Hospital. Born in Summerhill, he graduated from Cornell University and owned a dairy farm. Mr. Francis was a former Summerhill town supervisor and served on the town planning board. He also was town assessor, town historian and organizer of the town's sesquicentennial celebration. Mr. Francis was a past president of the Owasco Valley Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Moravia Central School Board and the Cayuga Owasco Lakes Historical Society. He was involved in the biddy basketball program at Moravia School, and was co-founder of the Friends of Powers Library and president of Lickville Cemetery. He was listed in Who's Who of Young Men in America. Surviving are his mother, Castella of Summerhill; a sister, Eileen L. Parker of Locke; two brothers, Elbert J. of Summerhill and Ronald C. of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Perkins Funeral Home. Burial is in McLean Cemetery.
