Facts and Events
Dudley and his son Benjamin manufactured wool hats for men and boys, and sold them through White Brothers in New York. At that time it took a sloop one week to go from Norwich to New York sometimes; this was before the age of steam. By 1801 he owned more than 14 acres in Scotland Society, Windham, and in 1818 he bought an additional house, shop, and more land. At his death he left an estate of $13,959, including real estate of $6,650. |
