- ↑ Duane Michael Tirrell 53, of Charlotte, MI was killed Monday, April 30, 2007 while working on his family farm. The centennial farm has been in the family for over 165 years. Duane was a devoted sheep producer, raising one of the finest flocks in the state. He was also extremely active in Michigan agriculture serving as a 4-H superintendent, Eaton County Farm Bureau president, board member of the Thornapple Grand Conservation District, vice-president of the Michigan Forage Council, and for the last nine years was the executive secretary of the Michigan Sheep Breeders Association. Recently, Duane was a "Farmer to Farmer" volunteer in the Eastern European Republic of Moldova. Duane was a member of the Eaton County Planning Commission, as well as the Charlotte Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; son, Ben; daughters, Becky and Abby; parents, Jack and Marian Tirrell; sister, Colleen Sloan; brother, Keith (Janis) Tirrell and his sister-in-law, Kathy Tirrell. He was preceded in death by his brother, Allen in 1988 and brother-in-law, David Sloan in 2003.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 3, 2007 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2007 at Lawrence Avenue United Methodist Church with Pastor John Bailey presiding. A more informal "Shepherd Service" will be held Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. on the Tirrell Family farm. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions can be made to the Michigan Sheep Breeders Association, as well as the Eaton County Junior Livestock Association through Pray Funeral Home. - ↑ Burial:
