Facts and Events
Dorothy Ralston was born in the southern suburbs of Manchester in 1893, the youngest child of a grocer named Joseph Alexander Ralston and his wife Eliza Ann Hicks. When Dorothy was six years old her mother Eliza died. Thereafter, Dorothy was brought up by her father. They lived at the family's grocery shop at 202 Moss Lane East in the Moss Side area of Manchester.
By 1911, Dorothy was described as a student teacher, apparently working for the Manchester City Education Committee. She has yet to be traced after the 1911 census.
