    Dorothy was the daughter of William Lowe and Margaret Fair. She married David Heffington. David and Dorothy were reputed to be the parents of eight sons and eight daughters. The names of eleven, possibly twelve, of their children have been identified:

    Henry Heffington
    Stephen Decatur Heffington

    and possibly Joseph Heffington

    David and Dorothy lived in Kentucky until about 1815, when they migrated to Lauderdale County, Alabama. By the late 1820s, members of the family had moved to Independence County, Arkansas, where they appear on the 1830 census. In 1840 they are listed in Jackson County, Arkansas. She died in Arkansas between 1840 and 1850.
