Obit of Donna Fenimore Beavers: Donna Fenimore Beavers passed away peacefully Sunday April 6, 2008, at Life Care Center of Hendersonville after a prolonged Illness. She was born March 29, 1920, and was raised in Akron, Ind. She was married to the late Robert Beavers, a long time employee of General Electric. She was active in many activities including sailing, biking, dancing and fencing, but it was her love of painting that dominated her life. She attended the University of Kentucky and received an honorary masters in art from the University of Cincinnati. While in Ohio, she taught 12 classes a week to both children and adults always wearing her signature white outfit. As an exchange artist, she went to England in 1970 and taught at Swarthmore College and at Cornwall and Devon. She studied with many noted artists and spent two years with the Art Colony at Rockport near Boston, Mass. After moving to Hendersonville around 1976, she joined the Art League of Henderson County and taught at Opportunity House and the Fine Arts Center in Tryon. She later taught at her studio in Lakemont. For 15 years, every fall, she held a week long workshop which was always attended by former students from Ohio as well as North Carolina students. She was known for her quality palette knife work and expressionist landscapes, always capturing the charm and essence of the location where she was painting wether it be the Blue Ridge mountains, the rocky cliffs in England, the island palms in Jamaica or the bison of Catalina Island. She will be remembered by her friends, caregivers, and associates as a loving, kind human being who always treated others in the way she wanted to be treated.
