Donald Graham Wright was born in Greeley CO in 1904. In his childhood he migrated with his family to Ashland, Oregon. There he attended Southern Oregon College where he met Ruth Doris Watenpaugh, daughter of Frank Martin Watenpaugh and Mary Annabell Cory. They married in 1929. They had three children, but a daughter died in early childhood. A son and another daughter survived.

In 1929 Donald, an aspiring businessman, bought a steam laundry in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Then the Great Depression hit and he lost everything. Donald enrolled at Arizona University and earned a Master’s Degree in business. In 1932 Donald obtained a job teaching school in a one-room school house in Davis Creek, CA. In 1935 Donald and his family moved to Cayucos, CA where he also taught school. Soon thereafter in 1937 he obtained a teaching position in San Luis Obispo, CA. During WWII, Donald became a school administrator and remained one until his retirement in the mid 1960’s. Donald was very active in the Presbyterian church and in his community. He was especially honored as a leader in the Boy Scouts. Donald was an avid golfer and a ham radio operator.
