Obituary, Parsons Sun, April 8, 2005: Donald L. Tullis BARTLETT - Donald L. Tullis, 62, of Bartlett died Friday, April 1, 2005, at his home after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born Oct. 28, 1942, in Parsons to George R. and Betty L. (Kemmerer) Tullis. He was passionate about the value of education, individual rights and vigorous debate in a free society. While an instructor in economics and statistics for over 20 years at Labette Community College, he was faculty association president and international student advisor. He took early retirement from LCC in May 2002. He was a part-time farmer with his father most of his life. He was on the board of CLASS Ltd. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees at Pittsburg State University and an ABD Ph.D at Oklahoma State University. He married June Griffith on April 16, 1983, in Parsons. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his mother, Betty L. Tullis of Chetopa; and a brother, William Tullis of Chetopa Manor. He was preceded in death by a brother, Steven. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lake Creek Cemetery in Bartlett with the Rev. John Chastain officiating. Friends may meet at Murdock Funeral Home in Oswego. The procession will leave at 12:30 p.m. for the cemetery. Memorials to Labette Community College Foundation or CLASS Ltd.
