JANESVILLE - Donald D. Powers, age 73, of Janesville, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, at Mercy Manor Transition Center. Donald was born in Edgerton on March 16, 1930, the son of Earl and Rigmor "Connie" (Mortensen) Powers. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Donald married Mildred Van Horn on Feb. 6, 1957. He was employed as a truck driver by Neuendorf Transport Company, continuing to work for the company when it became A.N.R. After retiring from there, Donald went to work in the maintenance department at the Janesville Mall. He was a member of First Congregational Church UCC, Moose Lodge #197 and the Milton American Legion Post. He was a former Boy Scout Leader and former affiliated with the Janesville Drum and Bugle Corp.
Donald is survived by his wife, Millie; 6 children: Jeff Powers, Dean Power, Pam Powers, all of Janesville, Donny Powers of Scottsdale, AZ, and Dana (David) Opie and Lisa Powers, both of Janesville; six grandchildren: Lee, Nathan, Tiffany, Brittney, Christopher and Karissa; 2 sisters, Muriel Topp of Janesville and Jackie Cookson of Milton; and a brother, William (Pat) Powers of Milwaukee. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by a brother, Phil; and a sister, Nancy Howard.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home.
