Telegraph Herald (Dubuque, IA) - January 29, 2007 Donald J. Pape Jr., 67, of 1016 Garfield Ave., died at 4:44 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at home following a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Mark Nemmers officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where there will be a wake service at 3 p.m. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. He was born on Sept., 20, 1939, in Dubuque, and graduated from Loras Academy. He married Janeen McCarthy Clarke on June 8, 1985, at the Little Brown Church, in the valley in Nashua, Iowa. Surviving are his wife, Janeen; his children, C.J. (Nancy) Pape, Brian Pape and Daniel (Mindee) Pape, all of Dubuque, and Suzanne Pape, of Woodward, Iowa; his grandchildren, Samantha, Tanner, Kyle and Danielle Pape, of Dubuque; his stepgrandchildren, Jeff (Ellen) Heim, of Greenwood, Ind., Jennifer Ary, of Tuc- son, Ariz., Celeste and Vincent Heim, and Max Ary; his siblings, Mary Kay and Roger Bahl, Pat and Bob Gatena, Garry and Lynn Pape, Dr. Gary and Nancy Stroh-meyer, Diane and Mike Freiburger, of Dubuque, and Betty and Mark Stowers, of Galena; plus many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Ruth (Carney) Pape Sr., and his mother and father-in-law, Vern and Rita (Donovan) McCarthy. The family requests no flowers. A special thank-you to Dr. Mark Hermann and staff, Hospice of Dubuque, and a heartfelt thanks to our "special angel" nurse, Diane Freiburger, whose loving care, knowledge and willingness to help day or night will never be forgotten. |
