Donald Jabaay of Crete died May 16, 2000, at VITAS Hospice at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights. He was born Oct. 10, 1917, in Lansing. He was a former longtime resident of Chicago\'s Roseland neighborhood and lived in Crete for the past 25 years. He was the former owner of City Furniture in Chicago\'s Beverly neighborhood and was a member of the Crete Upper Crust and Happy Agers. Mr. Jabaay is survived by his wife Winnifred DeBoer Jabaay; a daughter, Donna Fenstermacher of Cogan Station, Penn.; and a grandson, Robert Donn Fenstermacher of Quantico, Va. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert, in 1976; and his parents, John and Anna Vandervliet Jabaay. The funeral was conducted Thursday, May 18, at Smits Funeral Home Steger Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Ferguson, pastor of Deer Creek Christian Church, officiated. Burial was in Fairmount Willow Hills Cemetery in Willow Springs. Image Gallery
