Dexter Kilpatrick, 72, Dies At Home
Dexter Kilpatrick, 72, well-known Warren resident, retired railroad telegraph operator and grocery store proprietor, died at his home, 480 Belmont NE, at 8 a.m. today. Death followed an extended illness. He was the brother of W.B. Kilpatrick, Warren attorney.
Born Oct. 5, 1876 [1875] in Warren, the son of William and Grace Hull Kilpatrick, he attended Warren schools and at an early age was employed in Warren by the Erie Railroad as a telegraph operator. He later became a telegraph operator for the Pennsylvania Railroad here. After 12 years as a railroad telegrapher, Mr. Kilpatrick entered the grocery store business, operating his first store at the corner of Clinton and S. Park. He later had a store at the corner of Washington and Olive NE.
Forty-five years ago he suffered a stroke and had been in failing health since that time.
Surviving are his wife, Charlotte; a brother, W.B. Kilpatrick, Warren; a sister, Mrs. Jessie Dilworth, Cortland; and eight nieces and nephews.
The body is at the McFarland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements will be announced in Saturday's Tribune.

Funerals
Services for Dexter Kilpatrick, 73, who died at his home, 480 Belmont NE, at 9:50 a.m. Friday of pneumonia, will be held at the McFarland Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday in charge of Dr. A.W. Wishart. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. Kilpatrick was born in Warren, Oct. 5, 1875, the son of William and Grace (Hull) Kilpatrick. He was a life-long resident of Warren and was a railroad telegraph operator and grocery store proprietor.
Until 1905 when he became blind he was employed by the Erie and Pennsylvania Railroad. He operated a grocery store here for many years.
Mr. Kilpatrick was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Knights of Pythias for more tha 50 years, and served with Company K, 10 Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Spanish-American War. He retired in 1928.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Charlotte B. (Watson) Kilpatrick, whom he married July 2, 1901; a sister, Mrs. Jessie K. Dilworth, Cortland; and a brother W.B. Kilpatrick, Warren.
The Knights of Pythias Lodge will conduct their services Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. The Spanish American War Veterans will conduct military services at the grave.
The family will meet with friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
