Marriage to Bridget Murphy
Death[1] 10 Oct 1883 Cloney, Kildare, Ireland

Dennis Kelly was a labourer. His dates of birth and marriage are unknown, but between 1823 and 1843 he and his wife Bridget (Biddy) Murphy had seven children baptised in the adjoining parishes of Monasterevin and Athy in County Kildare, Ireland. He lived at Boherbaun in the Catholic parish of Monasterevin (and civil parish of Harristown) in the 1820s and early 1830s. By the early 1850s he was living in the townland of Cloney in the Catholic parish of Athy (and civil parish of Kilberry). He had probably moved to Cloney between 1832 and 1835 as all the children baptised before 1832 were baptised at Monasterevin and all those baptised after 1835 were baptised at Athy. At Cloney the valuation records shows that he rented 7 acres 0 roods and 8 perches of land, with a rateable value of 15 shillings for the land and five shillings for the buildings. Dennis died on 10th October 1883 at Cloney, described as a labourer and widower, indicating that Bridget predeceased him.

  2. Although Dennis's death certificate implies that he was born about 1815/16, he must have been at least ten years older than that in order to have been having children in 1823. Such a margin of error is not that unusual at that time.
