1. ↑ DENNIS HASKELL
   [This was found in a scrapbook made by Climena Schaibly, now in
   possession of George Schaibly of Woodland, MI]
   
   Dennis Haskell was born Dec. 31, 1848, in the Township of Bruce, Macomb
   Co., Michigan, and died August 25, 1940, aged 91 years, 7 months, and 25
   days. When about four years old, he moved with his parents to Calhoun
   Co., Mich., and at seven years moved with his parents to Woodland
   Township, Barry Co., where he spent the rest of his life. May 13, 1877,
   he married Betsy Mariah Cunningham, who preceded him in death July 1,
   1930. To this union three children were born, all preceding them in
   death. In 1875 they joined the church of his choice, "The Old Radical
   Church," United Brethren in Christ; to which he was a faithful member
   until death. July 11, 1932, he married Mrs. May Huff of Flushing,
   Michigan. Bro. Haskell has always lived in and around the community
   where he died and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He
   helped to build and maintain the Tamarac Church. For the past year he
   has been in declining health. He leaves to mourn their loss the kind
   and devoted wife; three grandchildren; Mrs. Myrtle Ellis of Lapeer,
   Mich.; Loren Oversmith of Battle Creek Mich.; and Mrs. Alta Sackett of
   Hastings, Mich.; and three great-grandchildren--Loretta Lee Ellis,
   Marlyne M. and Lorin C. Oversmith; and many friends. Burial was made in
   the Lakeside Cemetery at Lake Odessa, Michigan, and funeral was held in
   the Tamarac Church with his pastor, Rev. John I. Batdorff officiating,
   assisted by Rev. E. M. Wheeler, his former pastor.

   DENNIS HASKELL, 91, PASSED AWAY SUNDAY. WAS PIONEER OF CARLTON
   TOWNSHIP. FUNERAL HELD TUESDAY. BURIAL AT LAKESIDE
   
   Sunday morning Dennis Haskell, a 91-year old farmer living five miles
   southwest of Lake Odessa, passed away after a short illness.
   
   Mr. Haskell was a quiet, hard working pioneer of this vicinity, living
   just over the line in Carlton Township.
   
   The funeral was held at the Tamarac church with the Rev. J.I. Battdorff,
   assisted by the pastor, the Rev. E.M. Wheeler, officiating Mrs. Mary
   Curtis and Mrs. Sarah Meyers sang appropriate songs.
   
   Burial was in Lakeside cemetery. Mr. Haskell leaves his wife, three
   grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
