Della [Holley] Steward Smith, 88, of Corpus Christi, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 1999 in a local nursing home. She was born on September 7, 1910 in Van Buren County, Arkasas. Mrs. Smith grew up in Sapulpa, Oklahoma [903 N. 8th Street] and married Edward H. Steward, Sr. in 1931 and moved to Corpus Christi in 1942. She was a beloved wife, homemaker and mother. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward H. Steward, Sr. and her second husband Arnold A. Smith. She is survived by one son, Edward H. (Nancy) Steward of Corpus Christi; one sister, Vera Bauer of St. Cloud, Minnesota; two brothers, Vern Hughes of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and William Hughes of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Martha Steward Baudean of New Orleans, Louisiana, John Edward Steward of Portland, Texas, and Sarah Steward Greenley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three great-grandchildren, Katherine Elizabeth Steward, Michael Steward Baudean, and Patrick Aiden Steward. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 1999 at Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal with Reverend Frank Fuller officiating. Graveside services will be held at Restwood Memorial Park in Lake Jackson, Texas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.
