I found Dazy (Daisy) on ancestry.com in the Iowa state census. I had put Derr in as a search term and the name Daisy Margretz came up. Someone had put a notation that another name was Derr and showed her father's name as James Derr and mother's maiden name as Miller. I recalled during earlier research that an Andrew Miller was a guardian for Daisy Derr at one time. I'm thinking that her mother, Elizabeth Hanger, had the maiden name of Miller and possibly her first marriage was to a Hanger. I think it could've been Jesse Hanger.

The 1915 Iowa state census (an individual card, no actual census page) shows Daisy Margretz and says she's been in Iowa for 17 years, which would make 1898 the year she arrived there. That was the year her son Glenn was born.

1925 Iowa state census shows she's divorced/head of household and iving on Randolph St. in Waterloo, Blackhawk Co., Iowa. She owns her own home, value $4,000, has attended school through 11th grade. So far I haven't been able to find her in the 1930 Fed. census and haven't been able to locate a marriage or death record for her.

Here is the info on the guardianship: April 1891, Daisy is 11 years old; Application for Appointment of Guardian papers states "In the matter of the guardianship of the minor heir of Andrew Miller, deceased". James Hemphill was made guardian of Daisy.

From the Evening Courier, Waterloo, IA,Mar. 31, 1921: Mrs. Daisy Margretz yesterday was granted a divorce from Guy Margretz to whom she was married at Kesley, IA on Feb. 17, 1897.

Someone on ancestry.com (norm. lewis@@gmail.com) had a tree that mentioned Guy Margretz so I contacted him thru ancestry and asked if he had any info on Daisy. This is his reply:

I do have some new information on Daisy. About 1928, she married Nelson King. They are on the 1930 Waterloo Census. She died in 1971 in Cedar Falls and is buried in Dumont Cemetery in Butler County.

I'm attaching her obituary.
