Dawn D. Sheckler, 79, of North Avenue, Jim Thorpe, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022, surrounded by her loving family at the home of her son, Shawn and wife Stacy.
She had been the wife to the late Jerome Sheckler. Dawn and Jerome shared 38 years of marriage together before his passing in 2005.
Born in Mauch Chunk, she was a daughter of the late N. Leonard and Edna (Milford) Houser. She was a 1961 graduate of Jim Thorpe Area High School.
She was a bookkeeper at the NJ Zinc Company, Palmerton, until becoming a full-time wife and mom to their five boys.
She was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in the Heights of Jim Thorpe where she served as an adult acolyte.
Dawn loved her family. She also enjoyed the Carbon County Senior Games, the Carbon County Senior Center, volleyball and miniature golf.
Survivors: sons, Kyle, and fiancée Kate Hinger, Todd, and wife Arlene, Jason, and wife Pearl, Omy, and companion Tanya, all of Jim Thorpe; Shawn, and wife Stacy, of Lehighton; sister, Harriet Karper of Jim Thorpe; grandchildren, William, Austin, Travis, Jill, Olivia, Nathan, Lauren, Alexis and Collin; great-grandchildren, Carley, Wyatt, Marit; Aunt Shirley Beers; brother-in-law, David Sheckler; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Sandra Knappenberger.
Services: will be held 11 a.m., Friday, June 10, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 319 South Ave., Jim Thorpe, with the Rev. William Thompson and SALM Emma Weaver officiating. Viewing hours, 6-8 p.m., Thursday, June 9, in the Edward F. Melber Funeral Home, 524 Center St., Jim Thorpe, and 10-11 a.m. in the church on Friday. Interment will follow the service in Sky-View Cemetery, Hometown.
