David succeeded his father as millowner in Schleiz and Crimmitschau. Shortly after he became the owner of Davidsmühle it was destroyed in a city fire in 1475. Although the stone building remained it was never used as a mill again. David then moved to Angermühle (also called Greifenmühle) in Neukirchen near Crimmitschau.
