Obituary of David Barthel Overbey Sr.
David Barthel Overbey, Sr., of Kingsland, TX, formerly from Lincoln, Illinois, passed on to be with his Heavenly Father on December 29, 2015. He was at home at the time of his death.
Dave was born on July 20, 1943 in Elkhart, Illinois to Ira F. Overbey and Helen Laughner Overbey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, father-in-law, mother-in-law, a sister-in law, and two brothers-in-law.
Dave and his family moved from Lincoln, IL, to Kingsland, TX, in March of 1980.
Dave is survived by his wife, Luana Mae Overbey; one daughter, Charmale D. Gallagher (Eric); David B. Overbey, Jr.,; four grandchildren, Lt. Kia Gallagher, USN MC (Lt. Andrew Moore, USN MC); PO3 Shannon Gallagher, USN; Eric James Gallagher; and Samantha Overbey Abbott (Andrew); and three great-grandchildren, Aren Richard Cotton, Joshua Daniel Abbott and Natalie Alanya Abbott.
Dave served with the United States Marine Corps from 1960 through 1966. His daughter, son-in-law and son also all served with the United States Marine Corps. He was a Christian and member of the Highland Lakes Baptist Church where he served as an Ordained Deacon. For 25 years before his illness, he conducted Sunday morning worship service at Kingsland Hills Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be held at Lakeland Hills
