Facts and Events
Name David Morrow, Irish Immigrant
Gender Male
Birth? ABT 1740 Ireland
Death? South Carolina?

Immigrated Dec 1772 on "Lord Dunluce" from Ireland. Obtained a 450 acre land grant in Jan 1773 located on Sandy River in present day Chester Co SC. Elizabeth Morrow, age unknown, also immigrated on board the Lord Dunluce & received 100 acres located nearby in present day Chester Co SC. (She may have been a daughter over age 16 of "David the Immigrant". Only single women over 16 or widows could obtain land grants in SC during that time period.)

His presence in Chester County has lead to speculation that he was the David in the 1790 census Chester Co SC pg 183, and that he may have had sons Joseph Morrow (1760 Ireland? -1835 Chester Co SC), who married Jane Wylie; and Samuel Morrow born in Ireland who married Eliz Knox in Chester Co SC, died 1835, buried in Tuscaloosa, AL. Both men served in Revolutionary War.

According to posting on Christian Co Ky forum, 21 Feb 2004 "Morrow" children of "David the Immigrant" : Margaret, William, John & James Gillis Morrow.

We have test results back for a descendant of this man, a descendant of the David who left children in Spartanburg Co, SC (linked above) and a descendant of Joseph m. Jane Wylie. They DO NOT match. This David matches descendants of a group known as the Crosswoods/Oaks Morrows. The match is 25/25 and 35 or 36/37 markers, suggesting at least an 89% chance of a common ancestor in the last 12 generations. See Group 4 on this list of participants.
