Blount Co. TN Will of David Logan
In the name of God Amen I David Logan of the State of Tennessee and County of Blount being sick and weak of body but of Sound Mind and disposing memory for which
I thank God and calling to mind the uncertainty of human life and being desirous to dispose of all such worldly substance as it has pleased God to bless me with
I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Hannah one third of all my estate both real and personal for and during the term of her life and after her death I give the Same to my children herein after named and to my beloved wife the remaining two thirds of all the books and household furniture to dispose of the same at her own pleasure to make up any deficiency to either if she Judges their be any except me bed and furniture Books and Clock, the books at her death to be equally divided amongst all the legatees.
Secondly to my fair beloved daughters Hannah M., Rachel, Elisabeth and Peggy Ann the three youngest a portion equal to the eldest she having received all at and shortly after her Maridge except five dollars which is now bequeathed to her to be discharged in good trade to Peggy Ann twenty two dollars in Good trade to Elisabeth Eight dollars in Good trade to Rachel two dollars in Good trade. These three last bequeathments are considered necessary to make the three youngest equal to the estate in what she received previous to her maridge they also to have their portion exclusive of ___ as above stated
Third to my beloved Grand daughter Rosanah Thompson if Living to the age of eighteen, a two year old heffer and five dollars in money
Fourth to my beloved Granddaughter Rosanah Logan a good year old heffer
Fifth to my beloved Son Alexander Logan I give and bequeath ten acres of Land with a small improvement made by Robert McCully on the same being part of the tract he now holds and eight dollars ___ for his land.
Sixthe to my beloved son James R. Logan thirty Seven dollars which I give him in assisting him to pay for his land.
To my beloved son David L. Logan ten Dollars in money and thirty three in trade ___ for his land (this is the same word as the blank above and I can’t figure out what it is)
Eighth to my beloved son John M. Logan a young sorrel horse which he has claimed, a rifle gun, the feathern bed above excepted, the farming utensils, the farm allso at his mother’s decease.
And lastly I do hear Constitute and appoint My Friends Alexander, James R. and David L. Logan an Execute of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other or former wills or testaments by me heretofore made in witness whereof :I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this eighth day of May in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred and twenty Six.
