Án excellent study of Judge David, his parents and descendants can be found at http://www.stonybrook.edu/lihj/IssueFiles/V21_1/Articles/Tiedemann/tiedemann.html

In 1740 Judge David Jones purchased "the full equal third part of a certain pew in the body of St. George's Church in Hempstead aforesaid marked number eighteen.

"He and his first wife Anna were "originally interred in the old burying ground of Maj. Thos. Jones on Fort Neck, but were re-interred later in Grace Church Yard, at South Oyster Bay."

David's second wife Margaret was the widow of Samuel Treadwell of Rye, not John Treadwell, as proved by Samuel's will, in which he mentions his wife Margaret, also their children, and appoints his brother-in-law John Thomas, as one of the executors.

The following epitaph was found upon the head stone at his grave, (which was written by himself), in the old burial yard on Brick House Creek, where he was interred by the side of his wife:

Hon. David Jones
Here lies interred the body of the Honorable David Jones
who was born September 16, 1699, and died October 11, 1775.
Aged 76 years and 14 days.

Beneath this lonely spot in peace is laid
The mouldering fragments of a mortal's frame.
No busy noise invades this silent shade,
No vain aspiring longings after fame.

Like you, I once have trod the maze of life.
Like you, have labored after empty joys;
Like you, have bustled in the stormy strife —
Been grieved for trifles, and amused with toys.

As I am now, so you ere long must be.
Keep this in mind: You soon must follow me.
